The histotical drama is based on the Battle of Saragarhi, which was fought in 1897 when 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army, under the leadership of Havildar Ishar Singh, fought valiantly against 10,000 Afghan troops.
Akshay called Kesari, which features Parineeti Chopra as the leading lady, “a film which swells up my chest with immense pride”. Parineeti, meanwhile, hailed the historical drama as “one of the most beautiful movies people will ever see”.
Produced by Cape of Good Films and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Kesari is slated to open in theatres on March 21 this year.
